Assessment of the Eco-Labelling System in the Republic of Moldova, in Line With the European Union Requirements

The progress of civilization is inconceivable without a continuous intensification and expansion of economic activities of the society. The economic system builds upon the following three constituent elements: production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. Given that any production and consumption imply using natural resources, which finally results in a certain impact on the environment, the interaction of society and nature is indispensable. Most oftentimes, natural resources are irrationally used, which can lead to unwanted irreversible changes in the state of the environment. The economic progress based on environmental degradation and depletion of natural resources cannot be accepted in the context of sustainable development.
