World Refrigeration Day - 26 June 2019

Abstract

This poster presents key messages on how refrigerants and refrigeration support human comfort, transport technology, public spaces, food cold chains, health, science and research, and home refrigeration, in the context of World Refrigeration Day (26 June 2019). It states that most commercially available refrigerants contribute to global warming and/or ozone depletion if released, while newer energy-efficient equipment can reduce costs and greenhouse gas emissions. It notes that alternative refrigerants exist but may involve flammability, high pressure, or toxicity that require proper management. It outlines actions on refrigerant selection, system design, recovery and reuse, and certified servicing, and provides figures on energy reductions, cold-chain capacity, and projected air-conditioner growth by 2050.
