Validated Terminal Review report of the UNEP Project “Intergovernmental Consultations on Nature-based Solutions” (SMA ID 149153) 2023 – 2024

This report is a management-led Terminal Review of a UNEP project implemented between 2023 and 2024. The project's overall development goal was to respond to the 2022 United Nations Environment Assembly’s request for intergovernmental consultations on nature-based solutions, as called for in Resolution 5/5 “Nature-based solutions for supporting sustainable development.” This Terminal Review assesses project performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency), and determined outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability. The Terminal Review has two primary purposes: (i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and (ii) to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, the donors—Canada, France and the European Commission—and the relevant agencies of the project participating countries.
