Sailing Towards a Plastic-free Ocean: Project Report

This document describes a project integrating microplastics research and environmental education during a yacht voyage in the western North Pacific. It addresses gaps in understanding marine plastic distribution through continuous and net-based sampling methods, including smaller particles. Initial findings show widespread pollution with varying densities and common plastic types. The project also delivered an onboard education programme, engaging young participants in ocean science, conservation issues, and practical learning alongside ongoing research activities.
