Peatlands of Latin America and the Caribbean

Peatlands in LAC are extensive, occurring in the tropical lowlands of the Amazon, the tropical mountains of the Andes, the temperate systems of Patagonia, and along the Caribbean coasts. While remote areas remain largely intact, others are rapidly degrading, mainly due to agriculture.
