Abstract

This letter and registration form present ASERNI (Association d’Etude et de mise en valeur des Ressources Naturelles et des Institutions) as the submitting organisation to the United Nations Environment Programme Global Mercury Partnership. The organisation describes its experience conducting environmental and socio-economic studies for mining projects in Mali, identifies emerging mercury use in artisanal gold washing in specific communities, and expresses its intention to undertake awareness-raising activities to prevent the spread of mercury use and associated environmental and health risks, contributing to the artisanal and small-scale gold mining partnership area.
