Abstract
This document is a research report that quantifies the economic value of forests in Ethiopia and examines how that value connects with the national REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) process. It assesses both market (timber, wood fuel, coffee, etc.) and non-market (ecosystem services like pollination) forest-derived income, estimating that forests contributed substantially more to national income in 2012–13 than official statistics indicate, largely because many benefits are undercounted or omitted in conventional national accounts. The report outlines its scope, the valuation methodology aligned with accepted accounting frameworks, and provides detailed findings on how different forest goods and services contribute to the economy. It discusses implications for accounting practices and policy integration with REDD+ strategies
