Validated Terminal Review of the UNEP/GEF Project ‘Stocktaking and Update of the National Biosafety Framework of Mauritania’ (GEF ID 5639) 2016 – 2022

This report is a management-led Terminal Review of a UNEP/GEF project implemented between 2016 and 2022. The project's overall development goal was to facilitate compliance with and implementation of Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety through building the necessary policies, regulatory, administrative and technical instruments as well as local capabilities to help to ensure adequate level of protection to biodiversity and human health. The review sought to assess project performance (relevance, effectiveness and efficiency) and determine outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability. The review has two primary purposes: (i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and (ii) to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, GEF and the relevant agencies of the project participating countries.
