Abstract
This report presents the performance of the United Nations Environment Programme during the 2016–2017 biennium, assessing progress against its Medium-Term Strategy and Programme of Work. It outlines results across climate change, ecosystem management, environmental governance, resource efficiency and sustainable consumption and production, and keeping the environment under review. The document describes support to countries in integrating adaptation measures, promoting renewable energy, advancing green finance, strengthening environmental data systems, and implementing sustainable development commitments. Performance data indicate that 65 per cent of indicator targets were fully achieved and 25 per cent partially achieved. The report also provides a detailed financial overview, noting higher-than-planned income largely from earmarked contributions, organisational effectiveness measures, and areas requiring improved efficiency and gender balance.
