Recommendations, as Agreed by the Working Group (22 May 2019)

This document presents recommendations of the open-ended working group established by General Assembly Resolution 72/277 entitled “Towards a Global Pact for the Environment”. It sets objectives to reinforce protection of the environment, uphold obligations and commitments under international environmental law, contribute to strengthening implementation of environment-related instruments, and support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the outcome of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development. It reaffirms the role of UNEP and UNEA, encourages implementation, cooperation and coordination, and proposes further work including circulation of the recommendations and to prepare a political declaration for a high level meeting.
