Exposure Commitment Assessments of Environmental Pollutants Volume 1, Number 2: Summary Exposure Assessments for Mercury, Nickel, Tin

This technical report presents summary exposure assessments of mercury, nickel and tin by examining their occurrence in air, soil, water and diet from both natural and anthropogenic sources. It estimates human intake through inhalation and ingestion, describes the distribution and retention of each pollutant within the body, and applies the exposure commitment method to develop quantitative transfer relationships between environmental compartments and human exposure. The report evaluates the relative contributions of different exposure pathways to current background concentrations in humans and provides representative environmental levels, pathway analyses and supporting reference data. It forms the second report in a series of summary assessments of environmental pollutants using a consistent analytical framework.
