Abstract

The Steering Committee for the project “The Economics of Ecosystems & Biodiversity (TEEB) for Agriculture and Food,” or TEEBAgriFood, in Thailand has approved the implementation of a project to assess the value of ecosystems and biodiversity in the development of rice production systems in Thailand. This research is financially supported by, and receives assistance from, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the EU Partnership Instrument (EUPI). It considers issues related to the environment, the economy, and impacts on human and social capital, covering the entire rice value chain, using the TEEBAgriFood evaluation framework, whose indicators align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moreover, the study’s results may inform policy decisions that promote the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy model, a key national development policy framework. This study aims to answer the following key policy questions.
