Regional Seas Programme Progress Towards Global Targets for Marine and Coastal Conservation and Restoration

The objective of this report is to provide a comprehensive review of progress by Regional Seas Conventions and Action Plans (RSCAPs) towards global targets for the conservation and restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems, with a particular focus on Target 2 and Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM GBF) for 2030. The report also considers progress towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Target 14.5 and Aichi Target 11, noting that both had a 2020 deadline but have nonetheless shaped regional marine and coastal conservation efforts. The report has been developed by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) to help RSCAPs to expedite measuring of progress towards achieving global conservation and restoration targets set for 2030.
