Ten‑year Action Plan for the Promotion of Sustainable Consumption and Production in Burkina Faso

This document presents Burkina Faso’s Decadal Action Plan for advancing sustainable consumption and production across key sectors of the economy. Developed within the international framework established by Agenda 21 and the Marrakech Process, the plan diagnoses unsustainable consumption and production patterns—particularly in agriculture, livestock, forestry, energy, mining, water, transport, urban planning, and sanitation—as primary drivers of environmental degradation, resource depletion, and socio-economic vulnerabilities. It highlights the disproportionate use of chemical inputs, inefficient water and land management, and unsustainable energy use as urgent challenges. The document integrates SCP into national legislation, policies, and strategies, and provides sector-specific assessments alongside best practices and alternatives. It outlines a detailed, goal-driven action plan emphasizing environmental education, capacity building, clean technologies, and inclusive governance. Monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, communication strategies, and institutional responsibilities are clearly defined to support implementation.
