Abstract

This bulletin presents a collection of articles addressing current environmental challenges and initiatives related to weather, climate and environmental observation. It outlines the importance of engaging young people in scientific fields while describing programmes that promote education, training and participation in meteorology and climate research. The publication examines major environmental issues including ocean warming, acidification and declining oxygen levels, the ecological and socio-economic consequences of the shrinking Aral Sea, and the growing need for integrated weather and climate services in expanding urban areas. It also highlights international cooperation in scientific monitoring, including satellite observations of polar ice sheets and research efforts aimed at improving environmental prediction in polar regions.
