Green Economy and Poverty Reduction: Creating Social Equity and Measuring the realities of the poor (beyond GDP). This document presents civil society perspectives on Green Economy indicators, outlining how a green, fair, and inclusive economy is defined, measured, and promoted. It situates the discussion in a context of worsening environmental conditions, persistent poverty, and rising inequality, arguing that current economic activity fails to support sustainable development. The document describes five core themes for measurement: managing natural systems, investing in people, greening economic sectors, influencing financial flows, and improving governance. It reviews challenges in adoption across business, national, and international levels, highlighting weak signals and limited coherence.
