Abstract

This report examines the preparation of a low-carbon comprehensive mobility plan for the city of Rajkot, developed to address rapid urban growth, rising vehicle ownership and increasing emissions from the transport sector. It analyses existing urban conditions including demographics, land use, transport networks, travel behaviour, safety conditions and environmental indicators. Data were collected through household surveys, traffic counts, freight surveys, speed and delay studies, petrol pump surveys, and air and noise monitoring. The study applies transport modelling and scenario development to compare current trends with alternative low-carbon pathways. It integrates land use planning, public transport improvement, non-motorised transport infrastructure and technological measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining accessibility and mobility for urban residents.
