Activities for the commemoration of the Ozone Day 2017 in Myanmar - 16 September 2017

This report describes activities organised in Myanmar to commemorate the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on 16 September 2017. The event included an official ceremony where the Minister from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation addressed participants on the background of ozone protection, climate change, and global warming, and a message from the Secretary General of the United Nations was presented. A video presentation and discussions on ozone awareness and hydrochlorofluorocarbon phase-out programmes in refrigeration and air conditioning were conducted for officials, teachers, and students. Participation included government representatives, organisations, media, and nearly nine hundred students. Additional outreach occurred through regional activities, competitions, interviews broadcast on television, newspaper publications, and online announcements.
