MARS Snapshot: Top 50 Emitters, Country Responses and Mitigation - August 2026 Update

This snapshot presents the United Nations Environment Programme’s Methane Alert and Response System, which integrates data from more than 30 satellites to identify major methane emissions and alert countries for action. It provides information on mitigation cases enabled and confirmed through the system, country response rates to alerts, and the world’s 50 largest methane sources across sectors detected by satellites.
