Europe and central Asia meeting of Ozone officers in Antalya, Turkey - Media briefing

The Europe and Central Asia meeting of Montreal Protocol officers was held in Antalya, Turkey, on 11–12 October 2018, bringing together representatives from regional countries, implementing agencies, and the Ozone Secretariat to review progress and coordinate actions. The agenda covered compliance, reporting, and ratification of the Kigali Amendment, as well as strategies for phasing out HCFCs and phasing down HFCs. Participants emphasized independent verification, reliable data, and gender mainstreaming in projects, while also sharing experiences on enforcement, energy efficiency, and awareness campaigns. Small working groups developed action plans from prior technical workshops, and plans were confirmed for 2019 meetings in Ukraine and Serbia. Site visits showcased ammonia/CO₂ cascade systems, and Turkey’s adoption of EU-aligned fluorinated gas legislation was highlighted, with participants rating the meeting highly.
