Overview on NIPs Umbrella Component - Global Project on the Updating of National Implementation Plans for POPs

This document provides an overview of a global support component assisting countries to review and update Stockholm Convention National Implementation Plans (NIPs) to meet Article 7 and Article 15 obligations. It outlines GEF projects (FSP ID 5307; MSP ID 5525), outcomes, and outputs: compiling and mapping POPs data; enhancing the Stockholm Convention Clearing-House Mechanism; and building information-exchange systems through forums, expert sessions, and webinars. It describes training, including workshops with the BRS Secretariat in Indonesia, Panama, and Fiji; development of expert and laboratory databases; a questionnaire; a meeting at SC COP-8; and a draft “From NIPs to Implementation” lessons-learned report.
