Abstract
This document is a summary for policymakers of a report produced under the International Resource Panel of the United Nations Environment Programme. It synthesizes scientific analysis on how land-based human activities impact coastal resources and the sustainable blue economy using a Drivers-Pressures-State-Impact-Response analytical framework. The summary examines evidence on the pathways through which activities such as agriculture, ports, and aquaculture affect the condition and availability of coastal biological and abiotic resources, and how these changes affect key sectors of the ocean-based economy. It assesses the limitations of current governance systems in addressing land-sea interactions and outlines approaches to strengthen governance to reduce impacts and support a sustainable blue economy.
