Abstract
This guidelines document sets out an evaluation framework for assessing agriculture and food systems through a comprehensive approach that integrates environmental, social, economic and health dimensions. It outlines the rationale for examining the full range of impacts and dependencies associated with production and consumption, including effects on natural capital, human capital, social capital and produced capital. The document describes a structured methodology covering scoping, stakeholder engagement, measurement, valuation and interpretation of results. It clarifies how the framework can inform policy, business strategy and research by identifying trade-offs, externalities and distributional outcomes. The guidance emphasises comparability, transparency and context-specific analysis to support more informed and accountable decision-making.
