Management and Conservation of Renewable Marine Resources in the Kuwait Action Plan Region: UNEP Regional Seas Reports and Studies No. 63

Abstract

The Kuwait Action Plan (KAP) region comprises eight countries, namely: Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates {UAE) and the Sultanate of Oman. The first seven countries border the Inner Gulf, while the shoreline of the Su 1 tana te of Oman borders the Gu 1 f of Oman and the Arabian Sea, both of which differ appreciably from the Inner Gulf. The southeastern geographical boundary of the KAP region is determined by rhumb lines from Ras Dharbat Ali (16°39'N,53°3.5'E) to a position 16°00'N,53°2S'E; thence through the follo.,.,ing positions: 17°00'N,56°30'E and 20°30'N,60°00'E to Ras Al-Fasteh (25°04'N,61°25'E). The northern boundary is the head of the Inner Gulf at latitude 3a°30'N.
