Abstract

The goal of the LCA is thus to quantify the life cycle environmental impacts of plastic recycling technologies and other plastic waste management options in Cambodia, with the view of identifying sustainable technologies available to SMEs and how best to improve sustainability going forward. The study is a “gate-to-grave” LCA and focusses only on the end-of-life management of plastic waste. As such, the life cycle system covers everything required to manage plastic waste at end-of-life and includes plastic waste collection, transport to disposal/recyclers, pre-processing (sorting, baling etc.) and end-of-life management processing (landfilling, incineration or recycling), along with the avoided processes (virgin plastic production or electricity generation) where relevant.
