Abstract

This Protocol establishes a framework for cooperation among Contracting Parties in responding to marine emergencies involving substantial pollution or threats to the marine and coastal environment under the Convention for Cooperation in the Protection and Development of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the West and Central African Region (Abidjan Convention). It defines responsibilities, reporting procedures, information exchange, assistance mechanisms, and response measures for pollution caused by oil or other harmful substances.
