Abstract
This document presents a clear assessment of the interlinked planetary crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution and warns that these man-made emergencies pose serious risks to present and future generations. Drawing on the findings of leading global environmental studies, the document shows how rapid economic and population growth, unsustainable resource extraction and inadequate social and economic systems have damaged the Earth’s life-sustaining capacity and threaten human well-being and progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The document emphasises that piecemeal action is not enough and argues for ambitious, coordinated changes in energy, food, land, water and financial systems. It emphasises the need to value and protect nature, align economic indicators and incentives, and promote inclusive, cross-sectoral cooperation.
