Citizens’ Advisory Councils to Enhance Civil Society Oversight of Resource Industries - UNEP Perspectives No. 10

The establishment of Citizens’ Advisory Councils is fundamental to industry’s “social license to operate,” genuine corporate social responsibility, citizen empowerment, environmental justice, government legitimacy, and sustainable development. As such, citizen councils will provide long-term benefit to the public, government, and industry.
