Abstract
This report records the proceedings and decisions of a session held in Nairobi in June 1989 to review progress and coordinate the work of the intergovernmental body addressing climate change. The document describes the organisation of the meeting, including opening statements, approval of the agenda, and arrangements for conducting the session. It presents updates from the three working groups responsible for scientific assessment, impacts analysis, and policy response strategies. The report outlines the structure and preparation of a comprehensive assessment planned for 1990, including research priorities, climate modelling, observation systems, and evaluation of environmental and socio-economic impacts. It also discusses emissions scenarios, response measures, and the role of international cooperation in addressing climate change. Additional sections address participation of developing countries, financial and institutional support for the panel’s activities, and coordination with other international climate programmes and conferences.
