Abstract

This National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan is a report outlining Afghanistan’s framework for biodiversity conservation under the Convention on Biological Diversity. It identifies key ecosystems, protected areas, and major threats such as population growth, poverty, overgrazing, habitat loss, pollution, and climate change. The document sets national targets aligned with global biodiversity goals and defines strategies for sustainable resource use, habitat restoration, invasive species control, and climate resilience. It also describes institutional responsibilities led by the National Environmental Protection Agency and partner ministries, focusing on capacity building, coordination, and implementation across national and provincial levels.
