Integrated Assessment of Air Pollution and Climate Change for Sustainable Development in Africa - Chapter 4

Chapter 4 assesses baseline and mitigation scenarios for air pollutants, short-lived climate pollutants, and greenhouse gases across Northern, Southern, Central, East, and West Africa, using continent-wide modelling methods applied at subregional scale. It situates results within subregional geography, population, and economic conditions before and after the Covid pandemic, and summarizes the role of regional economic communities and agreements supporting coordinated action. It reports modelled emissions and sectoral reduction potentials for carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, black carbon, fine particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, and ammonia under SLCP mitigation and Agenda 2063 scenarios.
