2025 RCM Africa Outcomes

This document summarizes outcomes from the 2025 Regional Consultative Meeting (RCM) for UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders (MGS) in Africa, held July 10–13 in Nairobi, as a preparatory consultative platform feeding into AMCEN negotiations. It describes convening arrangements led by elected regional facilitators with support from UNEP (Regional Office for Africa and Civil Society Unit) and the AMCEN Secretariat, and reports participation scale and “first-ever” milestones, including a four-day format, a dedicated Youth Day, and publication of an RCM report. The content outlines high-level opening contributions, expert presentations spanning AMCEN@40 priorities, UNEA-7 preparations, biodiversity-related conventions, plastics and mercury processes, methane actions, and climate change, and six thematic working groups that generated three formal outcome statements and a forward-looking plan for future RCM organization.
