Report of the Ministerial Segment held from 10 to 12 June 2008

This document reports on the ministerial segment of the twelfth session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), held in Johannesburg from 10–12 June 2008, with participation from African ministers and multiple regional and international organizations. It records opening statements, organizational decisions (including election of officers and adoption of the agenda), and the adoption of the Johannesburg Declaration and related decisions. The ministerial policy dialogue focuses on an African climate roadmap toward Copenhagen 2009, financing for implementing the NEPAD environment initiative, and Africa’s vision for international environmental governance. It also documents calls for strengthened capacity-building, technology transfer, adaptation finance access, and improved coordination across conventions and institutions.
