Sustainable Development in Practice: Applying an Integrated Approach in Latin America and the Caribbean - Policy Note

This policy note provides a high-level summary of the implementation of sustainable development initiatives within Latin America and the Caribbean. Based on an exhaustive review of twenty-eight experiences, the document examines how applying an integrated approach across economic, social, and environmental dimensions helps advance the Sustainable Development Goals. The scope encompasses regional challenges, such as building stakeholder trust and overcoming sectoral silos, alongside practical guidelines to weave partnership networks, innovate for financial sustainability, and generate information for decision-making. Key findings indicate that long-term processes lasting nine to ten years successfully maximize synergies by using the environment as an entry point to catalyze health, quality of life, and economic resilience across multiple sectors.
