Lead in Paint Activities in Albania - Case Study

This presentation summarises activities on lead in paint in Albania, combining awareness campaigns and an analytical study of enamel paints. It describes outreach actions conducted during international awareness weeks and a laboratory analysis of twenty paint samples purchased in Tirana. The results show large variation in lead content, with several samples exceeding international reference limits and some labelled as lead free containing high concentrations. Lead levels differed by colour and producer. The document also identifies gaps and inconsistencies in European legislation, particularly the absence of a clear maximum allowable concentration and challenges in interpreting labelling requirements.
