Abstract
This briefing details a regional review of climate change adaptation planning across sub-Saharan Africa, drawing on a training workshop for twelve participating nations and a desk review of five additional countries. The document outlines efforts to integrate adaptation measures into national development frameworks, sectoral policies, and international commitments. While progress exists in anchoring initiatives within national strategies, the document highlights ongoing institutional difficulties, particularly in securing local-level integration, coordinating across multiple ministries, and engaging the private sector. The national adaptation plan processes offer valuable frameworks to stream climate data, catalyse international finance, and safeguard long-term development.
