Global Chemicals Outlook: Towards Sound Management of Chemicals - Synthesis report for decision-makers

This synthesis report highlights the main findings and conclusions of the full report on the sound management of chemicals. It assembles scientific, technical, and socio-economic information to support decision-makers in building capacity and implementing policies that protect human health and the environment. The report examines three interlinked areas: trends and indicators relating to chemical production, transport, use, and disposal, together with their associated health and environmental impacts; the economic implications of these trends, including the costs of inaction and benefits of action; and instruments and approaches for sound chemicals management. It also considers safer alternatives and guidance intended to accelerate progress towards the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management goals by 2020.
