Green Economy Scoping Study: Synthesis report - Barbados

This report synthesizes Barbados’s Green Economy Scoping Study, assessing how a small island state can transition to resource-efficient, low-carbon development while safeguarding social equity. It profiles national context and vulnerability, outlines the green-economy concept for SIDS, and evaluates five sectors—agriculture, fisheries, building/housing, transport, and tourism—alongside cross-cutting issues of energy, water, waste, and land. The study maps enabling conditions such as finance, technology transfer, trade, taxation, education, standards, procurement, governance, and metrics, and proposes a roadmap covering policy cohesion, public–private roles, partnerships, implementation, and periodic monitoring.
