Abstract
This document provides a decision-makers’ summary of the Adaptation to Climate Change Induced Water Stress in the Nile Basin initiative, implemented between 2009 and 2013 to strengthen resilience to climate-related water challenges across the Nile Basin. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme in partnership with regional and technical organisations, it presents findings from comprehensive assessments, including vulnerability analyses, hotspot identification, climate and hydrological modelling, and scenario development. The document also outlines policy and capacity-building activities, regional information-sharing efforts, and pilot adaptation interventions in Uganda and Ethiopia. It highlights measures to improve climate resilience through enhanced data systems, integrated water resources management, regional cooperation, and informed adaptation planning under conditions of uncertainty.
