Abstract

This document outlines the World Wide Wildlife Fund's contributions to intergovernmental consultations regarding nature-based solutions. The text details strategic recommendations for formalising comprehensive implementation standards, such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature Global Standard, and fostering convergence with multilateral environmental agreements including nationally determined contributions. Its scope encompasses defining high-quality intervention principles, identifying potential misuses like greenwashing or human rights infringements, and exploring diverse sustainable financing mechanisms to address the global funding gap. Through a methodology involving the compilation of best practices and scientific metrics, the document provides evidence-based indicators for evaluating societal challenges related to climate, food, and water security. Ultimately, the work serves as a technical framework to guide governments in adopting integrated, inclusive, and scientifically grounded ecological interventions.
