Technical Annexes to the Report on the State of the Marine Environment - UNEP Regional Seas Reports and Studies No. 114/2

This document contains 16 technical annexes which were used in preparing the report on the state of the marine environment. It compiles specialised analyses prepared by experts for the Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Pollution, coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme and partner organisations. The document examines major issues affecting marine ecosystems, including persistent marine debris, exploitation of non-living marine resources, disposal of dredged material, contaminants in water, sediments and living organisms, selected pollutants, and alterations of hydrological cycles. Additional sections analyse international conventions on marine pollution control, recovery of damaged ecosystems, land-ocean transport of contaminants, exploitation of marine living resources, coastal development, hazardous substance transport, and quality assurance of contaminant data. Together, the annexes provide scientific and technical foundations supporting the broader assessment of marine environmental conditions.
