This Guide on undertaking rapid assessment of existing national biodiversity strategies and action plans provides Parties with a structured and easy to follow set of actions to consider when revising or updating national biodiversity strategies and action plans, it assists the process to align existing national biodiversity strategies and action plans and targets with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity framework and shows how to undertake gap analyses of national biodiversity strategies and action plans with the new targets. The use of the Guide will allow Parties to identify those aspects or components of their national biodiversity strategies and action plans that need to be revised or updated in the light of the new framework. By following the suggested steps and sub-steps and consulting the list of suggested tools included in the Guide, Parties would be able to minimize time and resources required to revise or update national biodiversity strategies and action plans
