15th Global Meeting of the Regional Seas Conventions and Action Plans

The 15th Global Meeting of the Regional Seas Conventions and Action Plans was held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, from 30 September to 1 October 2013. Hosted at the invitation of the Cartagena Convention and Caribbean Environment Programme, the meeting brought together Regional Seas representatives and partner organisations to strengthen collaboration on shared priorities. Discussions focused on partnerships with UN agencies, multilateral environmental agreements and civil society, updates on the implementation of the Regional Seas Strategic Directions, and regional marine governance. Participants also explored cooperation between Regional Seas, regional fisheries management organisations and large marine ecosystem commissions, as well as approaches to areas beyond national jurisdiction, regional targets and indicators, and land-ocean connections.
