Abstract

Trade liberalization has been only a part of China's economic reforms, but liberalization, in addition to its direct benefits, has provided essential support for price rationalization, private sector development, openness to foreign capital and technology, and other policy reforms. The question is whether trade liberalization also supports the goal of environmentally sound and sustainable economic development.
