Measurability structure - Note by the Secretariat

This document was prepared for the second meeting of the Bureau of the Global Framework on Chemicals– Towards a planet free from chemical and waste harm, which took place on 5 December 2023. It outlines the next steps to operationalise the measurability structure adopted at the fifth session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5). The ICCM5 has decided to establish an ad hoc open group on measurability and indicators, which will work primarily electronically and with the support of the Secretariat, with the aim of finalising the measurability structure and developing a proposal for a set of indicators to be annexed to the Global Framework. These outcomes will be considered at the first session of the Conference in 2026. The Bureau is asked to support the proposed process, including the appointment of co-chairs, the development of a work plan and arrangements for consultation.
