Climate Change Strategy for the Nairobi Convention

This report outlines a regional climate change strategy developed for the Nairobi Convention, focusing on coordinated action in the Western Indian Ocean. It presents a framework to address climate change impacts through four integrated components: adaptation policy integration, policy formulation, implementation support, and monitoring and evaluation. The document emphasises improving scientific understanding of ecological and socioeconomic vulnerability, strengthening decision-support systems, and enhancing regional research capacity. It highlights the establishment of thematic task forces to study oceanographic processes, ecosystem changes, and coastal community vulnerability. It also stresses improved knowledge sharing, capacity-building, and coordinated regional governance to support evidence-based climate adaptation across member States.
