UNEP is releasing a new COP30 Factsheet Series exploring the most critical adaptation and mitigation themes shaping today’s global climate agenda. The series equips readers with clear, accessible insights into the debates, decisions, and expected outcomes across priority themes. This factsheet focuses on methane. Anthropogenic methane emissions drive roughly 30 per cent of the global warming we experience today. We must reduce methane emissions by about a third to keep the goals of the Paris Agreement within reach.
