8th Session of the GTN-H Panel - GCOS-216

This report documents the proceedings of the eighth session of the Global Terrestrial Network for Hydrology Panel held in June 2017 and outlines its coordination role within global climate and water observation frameworks. It recognises the Network’s role within the Global Earth Observations System of Systems, particularly through the Integrated Global Water Cycle Observations Community of Practice and support to the GEO Water Strategy. It reviews activities of federated data centres and confirms that their data underpin United Nations, regional and national programmes. The session focused on support to the Global Climate Observing System implementation plan, the World Meteorological Organization Commission for Hydrology, the GEO Water Strategy, data quality and access, and integration of satellite and in situ observations.
