Abstract

11891,

Coastal ecosystems have been of particular importance to tropical Pacific Islanders because islanders have always depended upon coastal marine resources for at least 90% of their animal protein. The rational management of tropical coastal ecosystem should be of worldwide interest because mangroves, seagrass beds, and coral reefs are among the most productive ecosystem, marine or terrestrial.
