NbS Examples Submitted by Brazil to the Intergovernmental Consultations on Nature-based Solutions

This submission describes an example of nature-based solutions centred on sugarcane biofuels. Since the 1930s bioethanol has been blended with gasoline and most vehicles can use both fuels. In 2022 sugarcane biofuels supplied 25% of land transport fuel while research expands aviation biofuels and biorefineries develop bio-based fertilisers and materials.
